Giving new value to materials. That is the goal of this new Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) in the textile sector. By allocating a total budget of 469,363.20 euros for the year 2026, ESS France is sending a clear message: we must support social and solidarity economy (SSE) organizations in their efforts to reuse and repurpose textiles.
The AMI is still open!

Published in early February, the call for proposals is part of the Textile Reuse and Repurposing Fund, financed by Refashion, and is open exclusively to social economy organizations (ESS) engaged in textile-related activities and operating in metropolitan France or its overseas territories. The goal is to repurpose a readily available material—TLC (clothing, household linens, and shoes from household sources)—that is all too often overlooked.
This call for expressions of interest is intended to develop four areas of focus, aimed at capitalizing on existing materials to repurpose them:
- Education and Training on the Reuse of TLCs
- The Refurbishment of the TLCs
- Improving retail space dedicated to TLC
- Funding for TLC's New Reuse Initiatives
To answer questions from applicant organizations, a webinar will be held on February 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Why participate?
The selected organizations will receive funding to support their efforts to repurpose textiles. The main requirement is to be a social economy organization, to engage in textile reuse activities, and to propose a project between June 15, 2026, and February 28, 2027.
Upcycling follows a very specific process that is carefully planned in advance. ESS France officials distinguish between reuse— «any operation by which substances, materials, or products that are not waste are used again for the same purpose for which they were originally intended,» from reuse: «any operation by which substances, materials, or products that have become waste are used again.».
