New Call for Projects: «Let’s Take Action Against Risks»

Preparing for disasters. In early March, the DEAL Martinique issued a call for projects leading up to National Resilience Day on October 13, 2026. All stakeholders in the region are invited to submit proposals with the ultimate goal of raising awareness and preparing residents.

Preparing for the Threat

In preparation for National Resilience Day on October 13, 2026, the DEAL Martinique is publicizing the call for projects and urging project leaders to come forward. «Its goal: to foster a culture of preparedness for major risks by raising awareness and informing all citizens of Martinique,» the DEAL states in an announcement on its website.

In the face of climate change, rising sea levels, and recurring severe weather events, regions must prepare. «Martinique is not spared and is subject to numerous natural hazards. In this context, the island’s adaptation and the protection of its populations depend on a better understanding of these risks and on the collective ability to prepare for them.»

A label to raise awareness

The call for proposals aims to award the «National Resilience Day» designation to organizations that commit to fostering resilience and preparing people to face the risks and threats facing Martinique.

The call for proposals is open to all entities committed to building resilience in Martinique: schools, businesses, organizations, local governments, and public institutions. Through these numerous partners on the ground, residents can be made aware of the importance of being prepared.

Once the certification has been awarded, the goal will be to raise awareness among as many residents as possible about best practices by focusing on three key areas:

  • Developing an awareness of natural and technological risks
  • Preparing Communities for the Occurrence of a Disaster
  • Building Collective Resilience in the Face of Risks
