On this land, C\u00e9line sought to help people reconnect with nature through a variety of activities, such as farming, volunteering, and retreats. Located on a secluded plot of land, the Macabou Gardens offer a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with nature and serve as a fine example of a circular and social economy.<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Moving Beyond Fantasies and Fears<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Living close to nature has many benefits but can also be subject to many idealistic notions. \u00abThere are fantasies that it will be easy to grow vegetables, that we\u2019ll be able to walk barefoot, and that all it takes is a little love for the plants to grow. \u00bbA lot of people arrive with fantasies like that,\u201d points out C\u00e9line, who runs the Macabou Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>For others, it\u2019s a matter of \u00abovercoming their fears about the agricultural sector, which can manifest as a fear of isolation, a fear of the hard physical labor, and a fear of a lack of intellectual stimulation,\u00bb she adds. Conversely,<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-solid\">\n<h3><em>\u00abLiving the farming life makes you realize that it\u2019s not like that at all. It\u2019s a very creative life with plenty of opportunities for imagination, creativity, and social interaction.\u00bb<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>Agricultural Volunteering<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Macabou Gardens regularly welcome agricultural volunteers, particularly through the WWOOF program.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-solid\"><p>\u00abSome people have been fortunate enough to pursue an education and grow up in a highly intellectual environment, but when they finish their studies\u2014or even after an entire career\u2014they end up feeling dependent, they feel clumsy because they never learned to acquire the practical skills that are essential to their lives and survival,\u00bb,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>C\u00e9line describes us.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-solid\"><p>\u00abKnowing how to build a shelter, how to plant a few plants, and how to identify plants that can be used for food and medicine are all skills that contribute to mental well-being.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the early years, the gardens in Macabou welcomed visitors they had met at the Vauclin market.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-solid\"><p>\u00abThis was an activity that was entirely geared toward a local audience\u2014residents of the area\u2014and over the course of the seven years that this program, called \u00abTour &amp; Tasting,\u00bb ran, the goal was to raise environmental awareness.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>Humans in Nature<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6995\" src=\"https:\/\/martinique2050.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-01-28-at-13.27.04-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"797\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00abMany people concerned with environmental issues view humans as a very negative aspect of nature,\u00bb explains C\u00e9line, \u201cwhen in fact it\u2019s more a matter of finding a necessary balance between the two.\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-solid\"><p>\u00abFor the past three years, I have been hosting retreats in the gardens of Macabou, as well as welcoming anyone who wishes to organize workshops related to healing: water therapy, earth therapy, self-care, music therapy, or art therapy.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Right now, Swedish painting is in the spotlight, as is flour painting, \u00abwhich means you don\u2019t have to use chemical paint,\u00bb adds C\u00e9line.<\/p>\n<p>Humans are naturally connected to nature, but the divide between the two is essentially \u00abintellectual\u00bb; Macabou\u2019s gardens are representative of a type of place where effort and pain have been replaced by calm and pleasure, because living things are a \u00absource of immense inspiration,\u00bb she concludes.<\/p>\n<p>S.D.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L\u2019histoire des jardins de Macabou est l\u2019histoire de la r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d\u2019un terrain lessiv\u00e9 par des d\u00e9cennies d\u2019\u00e9levage intensif.
