Is fishing the best way to discover Martinique\u2019s natural treasures? The fishing federation offers just such an outing into the heart of the island\u2019s biodiversity. Fishing? Yes, but with respect for the environment and aquatic species!<\/h2>\n

Fishing Trip<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Martinique Fishing Federation is organizing a fishing trip on Friday, April 10, at the Mass\u00e9 River in Fond Saint Denis from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free, open to everyone, and offers a chance to discover Martinique\u2019s natural treasures.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a way to combine business with pleasure and learn a lot about nature and the environment\u2014topics that are often little known to the general public. \u00abOur expert anglers will be on hand to help you discover the iconic species found in our tropical waterways. It\u2019s the perfect opportunity to observe native wildlife up close and understand the importance of protecting these fragile ecosystems,\u00bb say the organizers.<\/p>\n

Equipment will be provided to participants so they can try their hand at catching mountain mullet or local shrimp. The animals caught will then be released back into their natural habitat.<\/p>\n

Is it safe to eat crayfish?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This fishing trip is an opportunity to address the issue of crayfish consumption in Martinique. The Martinique Fishing Federation, which is deeply committed to this issue, warns potential consumers: \u00abWe love our crayfish, but the reality of our rivers is complex. Between chlordecone, heavy metals, and sanitation issues, catching crayfish directly can pose a real danger to your health,\u00bb the association states on its social media channels.In light of these environmental concerns, the fishing federation encourages the consumption of farmed crayfish, such as cherax, and recommends controlled aquaculture, which ensures a regulated diet, a safe environment, and the preservation of resources.<\/p>\n

This proves that nature can sometimes hide dangers\u2014all the more reason to take part in the fishing federation\u2019s activities to better understand nature and its potential imbalances, while always striving to respect it more. Grab your landing nets!<\/strong><\/p>\n
