Dans une publication diffus\u00e9e le 22 juillet 2026, le SMTVD pr\u00e9sente le fonctionnement de cette installation, dot\u00e9e d\u2019une capacit\u00e9 de traitement de 115 000 tonnes par an.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Une installation destin\u00e9e aux d\u00e9chets qui restent apr\u00e8s le tri<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">L\u2019<strong>Unit\u00e9 de traitement et de valorisation des d\u00e9chet<\/strong>s, ou UTVD, prend en charge les d\u00e9chets m\u00e9nagers r\u00e9siduels. Il s\u2019agit de la fraction qui subsiste apr\u00e8s les actions de pr\u00e9vention, de tri et de recyclage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">La valorisation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique intervient donc en fin de cha\u00eene. Elle ne remplace ni la r\u00e9duction des d\u00e9chets \u00e0 la source, ni le r\u00e9emploi, ni le recyclage des mat\u00e9riaux. Ces solutions restent prioritaires, comme le rappelle \u00e9galement le SMTVD dans sa publication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Les d\u00e9chets qui ne peuvent plus \u00eatre orient\u00e9s vers une fili\u00e8re de valorisation mati\u00e8re sont achemin\u00e9s jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019installation. Ils sont ensuite utilis\u00e9s comme <strong>combustible pour produire de la chaleur, puis de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Le SMTVD annonce pour l\u2019UTVD une capacit\u00e9 annuelle de traitement de <strong>115 000 tonnes.<\/strong> Ce chiffre d\u00e9signe la capacit\u00e9 de l\u2019installation et ne doit pas \u00eatre confondu avec le tonnage r\u00e9ellement trait\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e, qui n\u2019est pas pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 dans la publication.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h2>De la combustion \u00e0 la production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u00c0 leur arriv\u00e9e sur le site, les d\u00e9chets sont r\u00e9ceptionn\u00e9s avant d\u2019\u00eatre introduits dans les fours. Leur combustion d\u00e9gage <strong>une importante quantit\u00e9 de chaleur.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Cette \u00e9nergie thermique est r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9e dans des chaudi\u00e8res afin de produire de la vapeur. Celle-ci alimente ensuite un syst\u00e8me de production \u00e9lectrique. L\u2019installation ne se limite donc pas au traitement des d\u00e9chets : elle r\u00e9cup\u00e8re une partie de l\u2019\u00e9nergie lib\u00e9r\u00e9e au cours de leur combustion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">L\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 produite est d\u2019abord utilis\u00e9e pour couvrir les besoins de fonctionnement du site. Selon le SMTVD, <strong>l\u2019UTVD est ainsi autosuffisante sur le plan \u00e9lectrique.<\/strong> Lorsque la production d\u00e9passe les besoins de l\u2019installation, l\u2019exc\u00e9dent est inject\u00e9 dans le r\u00e9seau.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Cette autonomie concerne toutefois les besoins \u00e9lectriques du site. Elle ne signifie pas que l\u2019ensemble de la collecte, du transport et du traitement des d\u00e9chets en Martinique fonctionne sans apport \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique ext\u00e9rieur.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><em>Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 comprend \u00e9galement la surveillance de la combustion, le traitement des fum\u00e9es et la gestion des r\u00e9sidus produits. Ces diff\u00e9rents aspects participent \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9valuation des performances environnementales d\u2019une unit\u00e9 de valorisation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, au-del\u00e0 de la seule quantit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h2>Une production annuelle annonc\u00e9e de 40 GWh<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Le SMTVD indique que l\u2019installation produit chaque ann\u00e9e<strong> 40 GWh d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, soit 40 millions de kilowattheures.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Selon le syndicat, cette production repr\u00e9sente l\u2019\u00e9quivalent de la consommation \u00e9lectrique annuelle d\u2019<strong>environ 20 000 foyers.<\/strong> Cette comparaison donne un ordre de grandeur, m\u00eame si la publication ne pr\u00e9cise ni la m\u00e9thode de calcul utilis\u00e9e ni la quantit\u00e9 exacte d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 inject\u00e9e dans le r\u00e9seau apr\u00e8s l\u2019autoconsommation du site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Il convient donc de distinguer la production totale de l\u2019installation de l\u2019\u00e9nergie r\u00e9ellement mise \u00e0 disposition du r\u00e9seau. Une partie des 40 GWh est directement consomm\u00e9e pour faire fonctionner l\u2019UTVD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Derri\u00e8re l\u2019exploitation de l\u2019\u00e9quipement, <strong>34 collaborateurs assurent quotidiennement le suivi des installations.<\/strong> Leurs missions concernent notamment la conduite du proc\u00e9d\u00e9, la surveillance des \u00e9quipements, la maintenance et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 du traitement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Le fonctionnement continu d\u2019une installation de cette taille n\u00e9cessite des comp\u00e9tences techniques vari\u00e9es et un contr\u00f4le r\u00e9gulier des diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tapes du processus.<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h2>Une solution compl\u00e9mentaire au r\u00e9emploi et au recyclage<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">La production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 offre <strong>une voie de valorisation aux d\u00e9chets qui ne peuvent plus \u00eatre recycl\u00e9s.<\/strong> Elle permet d\u2019en r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer une partie de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, mais elle ne transforme pas l\u2019incin\u00e9ration en recyclage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">La priorit\u00e9 reste de r\u00e9duire la quantit\u00e9 de d\u00e9chets produits, d\u2019allonger la dur\u00e9e de vie des objets et de mieux s\u00e9parer les mati\u00e8res pouvant \u00eatre r\u00e9employ\u00e9es ou recycl\u00e9es. Plus ces fili\u00e8res progressent, plus la quantit\u00e9 de d\u00e9chets r\u00e9siduels \u00e0 traiter peut diminuer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><em>La valorisation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique constitue ainsi un maillon d\u2019un dispositif plus large.
