WIND POWER: Louis Boutrin Meets with Officials from the Grand-Rivière Wind Farm

On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, CTM Executive Council Member Louis BOUTRIN, who oversees energy issues, met at the CTM Hotel with officials from NW Energy, who are in charge of the GRESS (Grand Rivière Eolien Stockage Service) project.

On the agenda: a major progress report on GRESS, a key project for Martinique’s energy transition, which is part of the Multi-Year Energy Plan (PPE).

During this discussion, Executive Councilor Louis BOUTRIN, along with the President and Director of NW Energy, Jean-Christophe KERDELHUE and Yves JEGO, identified ways to improve collaboration between the CTM and NW Energy as part of the GRESS project. Indeed, the project calls for an expansion of its wind farm, particularly in the municipalities of Macouba and Ajoupa Bouillon. The CTM will once again play a crucial role in facilitating the delivery of the infrastructure and equipment needed to carry out the project.

This meeting also provided an opportunity for the Councilor to reaffirm the CTM’s support—through the Multi-Year Energy Plan (PPE)—for projects aimed at reducing our island’s dependence on fossil fuels. Thus, the great importance of a project such as GRESS—a wind power project coupled with electricity storage capabilities—was once again emphasized.
