Rehabilitation Through Gardening

The Association Solidarités Lamentinoises (ASL) helped establish the «Local Farmers United for Solidarity». During the first training session in December 2015, 12 inmates were able to join the program and receive training as versatile vegetable farmers specializing in livestock. In addition to having the opportunity to learn the trade of market gardening in a garden located near the prison, the training program also allows participants to gain hands-on experience through internships at local businesses. They also learn to build furniture and shelters using recycled materials. This is a fine example of empowering individuals and enhancing their environment.
