Questions and Answers
A solar water heater is a clean, reliable, and economical source of domestic hot water. However, it requires some precautions during installation.
If the weather is bad, does the solar water heater still provide hot water?
The water heater has an insulated tank, which provides a sufficient supply of hot water—even on rainy days—for up to 3 days with moderate use.
Can you generate electricity with a single-family solar water heater?
No, electricity is generated from solar energy solely by solar collectors consisting of silicon photovoltaic cells that directly convert solar energy into electricity. These collectors are called photovoltaic panels, modules, or generators.
Can a solar water heater be installed on any home in Martinique?
Installation is possible in most homes. Three factors should be considered to optimize an installation: the orientation of the panels, their tilt, and the risk of shading.
How do you maintain a single-family solar water heater?
It is important to keep the sensors clean and prevent shadows (from vegetation, etc.) from blocking them. As with an electric water heater, you should run the safety valve once a month and periodically check the condition of the sacrificial anode. Rain helps keep your collector clean.
