European Week for Waste Reduction

For the past few years, the goal of this European Week for Waste Reduction has been, SERD, is to raise public awareness about the need to reduce our overall waste. Coordinated in France by ADEME, it is a key opportunity to promote good consumer practices.

SERD 2019, November 16–24: Activities across the country and throughout Europe…

A time to learn about reuse, recycling, and repair—as well as new consumer habits that allow us to consume better and less, while being mindful of what we buy! Here, you’ll learn how simple, everyday actions can not only help reduce the amount of waste we produce but also enable us to live and eat sustainably—by choosing local and seasonal products, for example…

Government agencies, local authorities, organizations, school groups, and the general public. Everyone is invited to do their part!

This means that anyone can lead a project and play an active role in this awareness week. There are action ideas and communication tools available to everyone. here, in the project leader's guide…

In particular, six major themes are highlighted:
■ Waste prevention (eco-design, excessive packaging,
disposable products…)
■ Hazardous Waste Prevention
■ Preventing Food Waste
■ Promoting composting
■ Reuse/Repair/Recycle
■ Cleanup Day

7,000 initiatives are currently underway throughout the country, with many taking place in the overseas territories and, in particular, in Martinique Check it out here!
