Asso-Mer is issuing a new call for volunteers to participate in the project, which will take place on July 14, 2026. As part of the RECC project, this work camp will help improve the habitat of sea turtles and address issues that might prevent them from coming ashore to lay their eggs. New Event from Asso-Mer
«A new RECC event is coming up. After the first tree-planting event in January, we’re back for a second one,» says Asso-Mer. On Tuesday, July 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the association is organizing a volunteer workday at the volleyball court, next to the Beach Grill, in Carbet.
The morning will be divided into two parts: from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., participants can help «set up fences around the revegetation enclosures,» and until 12:00 p.m., they can work on «planting seaside potatoes and a few catalpas,» according to the organizers.
«We welcome your tools!» To carry out these projects, Asso-Mer is calling on volunteers and asking anyone interested to bring equipment, especially cordless screwdrivers, which will be very useful.
What is a RECC event?
The acronym RECC stands for «Ecological and Community-Based Restoration in Le Carbet.» The Carbet coastline is a prime nesting site for sea turtles, but there are numerous problems: coastal erosion, pollution, loss of vegetation, litter, and light pollution.
Based on this observation, the RECC project aims to address four key areas:
- Reduction of human-induced pressures
- Restoration of Sea Turtle Nesting Habitats
- Combating Coastal Erosion
- Taking into account the socioeconomic and cultural uses of the beach
This is the context for Asso-Mer’s July 14, 2026, project, which therefore requires citizen participation. It is essential to take action to protect sea turtles and their habitat in Le Carbet.
