Espace Sud supports and encourages organizations that promote integration through economic activity to implement initiatives that enable long-term job seekers to secure employment contracts as part of an economic or socially beneficial activity.
That is why, in order to clean up beaches and other sites affected by To address the Sargassum algae bloom, a total of 55 employees will be hired as part of two job-training programs, each lasting 6 months.
The first project involves 40 employees and will take place at several sites in the municipalities of Le François, Vauclin, Marin, and Sainte-Anne, depending on need. It is led by the association «Hommes et Territoire» and began on July 26, 2018, in Vauclin.
The second project led by the «AB STRATEGIE» association involves 15 employees and will take place in the town of Le Diamant.
Employees will receive support from career advisors at the Espace Sud PLIE and training on the following topics:
– Understanding of the world of work
– Integration into the company
– Workplace First Aid Responder
– Gestures and Postures
– Risk Prevention and Response in Contaminated Environments
Espace Sud is contributing €60,000 toward the funding of these initiatives.
These are not the first initiatives supported by Espace Sud that have helped remove Sargassum. In fact, from 2014 to 2016, Espace Sud partnered with the CAID association to launch the first intermunicipal project, which led to the hiring of 40 employees who worked in the municipalities of Le Diamant, Vauclin, and Sainte-Anne.
Work programs for social reintegration have proven to complement the mechanical removal efforts carried out by waste collection contractors hired by Espace Sud.
