On Saturday, December 9, the official opening of the second edition of the «Shed some light on it». Organized by the SMEM (Martinique Joint Electricity Authority) in collaboration with the city of Schoelcher, the event will continue through December 16.
Activities for Everyone
Throughout the week, a wide variety of activities will take place at different locations throughout the city of Schoelcher, where people of all ages can learn about the energy transition in an educational and festive atmosphere. The program includes numerous talks, a “Ti manway” event featuring Ti-Boug, the SMEM mascot, clowns, a trampoline, a light show, and Christmas carols.
The Technology Village
At the Energy Transition Technology Village, several professionals and organizations gathered to educate the public about energy conservation. Several alternatives to fossil fuels are showcased there (solar power, wind power, etc.). Companies and organizations are happy to answer questions from the public and share details about their current and future projects.
SMEM offers young people a questionnaire and the opportunity to sign a charter on best practices for energy consumption, and awards prizes to the winners. AME (the Martinique Energy Agency), with its bold projects, draws attention to its booth with a fan and a solar oven.
And it goes on…
The activities will continue through Sunday. Don’t miss “Indian Heritage Day,” featuring a sun salutation led by the Shakti Association, starting at 8 a.m. on Friday at the municipal stadium. The day’s activities will continue at Place des Arawaks starting at 6:30 p.m., featuring a musical performance, parades, poetry, songs, and traditional dance, and will conclude with a Nwel chant.
