The NGO SomOfUs is issuing a new warning because the Trump administration has just reauthorized the sale of sulfoxaflor, a pesticide that kills bees, despite knowing that this «new neonicotinoid» will result in the death of tens of thousands of bee colonies.
“The massive die-off of bees around the world, caused by pesticides such as sulfoxaflor, is a real and terrifying threat. The Environmental Protection Agency—now headed by a Trump ally—has given the green light to sulfoxaflor, even though a few years ago it had itself admitted that sulfoxaflor was «extremely toxic to bees»!
However, “a small but courageous coalition of beekeepers has decided to sue the Trump administration to have sulfoxaflor banned and is taking the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals to counter the power of the Trump administration and its allies in the pesticide lobby.”
The NGO is calling on citizens to support this fight against the agrochemical giants by making a donation to support the legal action:
“This struggle involves enormous risks: Taking on the pesticide industry means that beekeepers are putting their livelihoods on the line. By filing this lawsuit, they are jeopardizing their businesses because the farms they work with often refuse to do business with beekeepers who stand up to the pesticide industry. Between legal fees and lost income, they need your help more than ever to win this case.”
