«Did you know that women have historically played a central role in this field?» This new online conference organized by CRESS aims to restore to women the place they rightfully deserve and give them full credit for their contribution to the development of the social and solidarity economy in Martinique.

The CRESS of Martinique is organizing a webinar to explain and explore in depth the role of women in the growth of the social and solidarity economy sector by examining «the history, contributions, and commitment of women,» according to the CRESS. The webinar will take place online on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The webinar will be led by Liziane Lostau, program coordinator at CRESS Martinique, and Gwladys Baudel, director of the observatory and impact assessment. As a reminder, women represent a large majority of employees—71% of the workforce in the social and solidarity economy (SSE) in Martinique—according to the regional SSE observatory.
Women in the Spotlight
Following International Women’s Day on March 9, CRESS reaffirms its commitment to the active participation of all, without discrimination. «The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) is an economic model based on cooperation, democracy, and social utility, recognized in France notably by the law of July 31, 2014,» states CRESS.
With the two hosts leading the discussion, this conference will be an opportunity to hear from committed women such as Scarlett Wilson-Courvoisier, author of Matrimoine: What the Pioneers of the Social and Solidarity Economy (1830–1999) Have Passed Down to Us, by Clara Palmiste, associate professor of history at the University of the Antilles (Guadeloupe campus), Marie-Josèphe Hardy Dessources Sellaye, co-president of the Union of Women of Martinique; Anne-Marie Gelanor, president of the La Cité Intermediary Association; and finally, Mickaëlle Ovarbury, secretary of the CRESS Martinique executive committee.
