ACISE MARTINIQUE
Brief description of the company:
ACISE is an organization dedicated to assisting the homeless and promoting their reintegration through economic activity. It collects all items that can still be used, in partnership with the eco-organizations Eco-TLC, Eco-mobilier, Eco-systèmes, and VALDELIA.
You can bring the following items to ACISE stores—provided they are in good condition—only: dishes, toys, bicycles, records, DVDs, books (except school textbooks and encyclopedias), knickknacks, household appliances, furniture, decorative items, baby care accessories, tools, etc. For very large items, ACISE offers a home pickup service by appointment. After cleaning, repairing, or repurposing the collected items, the Ressourcerie resells the items you’ve donated. If the items cannot be resold, they are sent to a recycling facility where their components will be turned into secondary raw materials.
You can donate the following items to the orange collection bins: clothing, household linens, shoes of all sizes for all ages, as well as leather goods—even if they’re damaged. Items must be clean and dry; shoes must be tied together in pairs; and everything must be placed in tightly sealed trash bags. Clothing in good condition is donated to shops and the ACISE Homeless Shelter. The rest is sent to international reuse and recycling networks. Several metric tons per year are recycled in Martinique, either as fashion items or as fabric scraps.
