The General Commission for Investment, ADEME, and the Ministry of the Environment, together with the French Agency for Biodiversity, are launching the call for proposals of the Investment for the Future Program (PIA) titled “Pilot Sites for Restoring Biodiversity”.
This call for proposals is intended to help co-finance innovative regional projects that preserve or restore biodiversity in all types of ecosystems and throughout the entire national territory (including overseas territories). It aims to support projects that are ambitious or complex from a technical, societal, or governance perspective.
The purpose of the PIA is to promote inventive and collaborative multi-stakeholder, multi-scale, and multi-thematic project engineering, with prospects for reproducibility and broader deployment. In particular, projects must involve the creation of an asset—whether tangible or intangible—have a plan for commercializing that asset, and identify a stakeholder (such as a company) that would lead the commercialization of that asset.The call for proposals is intended for local governments (regions, departments, metropolitan areas, urban communities, “pays,” public intermunicipal cooperation institutions with their own taxing authority, and municipalities) committed to biodiversity through a project that meets the following criteria:– a proven track record of innovation,– replicability and medium- and long-term goals.
Projects submitted in response to this call for proposals may address one or more of the following four areas:
- Priority Area 1 : Develop innovative regional projects
- Axis 2 : To promote knowledge, awareness, and training among local stakeholders
- Priority Area 3 : Develop projects that combine biodiversity and risk prevention
- Priority Area 4 : Implement the new tools provided by the Law on the Restoration of Biodiversity and Landscapes and integrate biodiversity into sectoral policies
The projects submitted must have a total budget of at least €700,000, and the innovative component of the project will be eligible for funding of up to 60% based on the criteria mentioned above.The documents for the call for proposals can be downloaded from the ADEME website, and proposals must be submitted to this address by 5:00 p.m. on March 20:https://appelsaprojets.ademe.fr/aap/AAP%20BIODIV2016-96
