To bring together the driving forces of Martinique’s nonprofit sector to mark the 125th anniversary of the 1901 Law on Freedom of Association. This is the proposal put forward by two major players in the civil society sector in Martinique. This event will be an opportunity to celebrate all that has been accomplished over the past 125 years and to look ahead to future projects for Martinique, because the flame of civic engagement is far from dying out!
A local event
The Martinique Association Movement (LMAM) and the Martinique CRESS are organizing “Les Rendez-vous de l’engagement” on Wednesday, July 8, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at a location to be announced shortly but situated in the downtown area.
Specifically, participants will have the opportunity to attend a panel discussion and a film screening followed by a discussion. This event is being organized to mark the 125th anniversary of the 1901 Law and «under the auspices of Emmanuel Fevre, subprefect and deputy secretary general, delegate for equality and social cohesion.».
«The goal of this event is to honor the »9,000 organizations that keep Martinique’s heart beating,«» the organizers emphasize. "As we mark the 125th anniversary of the Law on Freedom of Association, let’s work together to build the solutions of tomorrow."

The CRESS of Martinique is presenting several activities that will take place during this event:
– Learning about the programs and support services offered by the LMAM and the CRESS
– A roundtable discussion on the evolution of nonprofit models and the challenges facing the nonprofit sector
– The screening and discussion of the documentary Act as if you can't fail, dedicated to Claude Alphandéry, a leading figure in the social and solidarity economy
The event is co-funded by the European Union, with the participation of the Prefecture of Martinique, the Academy of Martinique, the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique (CTM), Teyat Otonom Mawon (TOM), the City of Fort-de-France, and the dynamic Foyalaise association.
