A vacation in an enchanting setting, on a houseboat, with all the necessary amenities. For the past two years, Elite FPL Development workthe to build this resort complex eco-friendly, much to the delight of visitors… and in harmony with nature. This pilot project, funded entirely by the French government, is expected to be launched on Mandoline Islet in the town of Trois-Îlets within a year.
Eco-Friendly Luxury
A moored floating complex consisting of two star-shaped structures, with houses situated at the apex of each, connected by floating pontoons. These platforms, with a total area of 100 m², each feature a 40 m² terrace that wraps around the house. A small recreational beach area with a filtered seawater hot tub, two adjoining bedrooms, a bathroom, a toilet, a small kitchen, and the option to add a two-seater sofa bed in the living room to accommodate four to six people.
Energy self-sufficiency, sanitation … and transportation
These 12 houses are equipped with solar panels and a wastewater treatment system, providing complete self-sufficiency. To enable the occupants to get around, individual electric-powered boats will be made available to them.

To provide all the comforts of a modern home, the bedrooms are air-conditioned, but with an educational twist. Upon entering the room, a meter will display the energy consumption rate to raise guests’ awareness of the energy impact of their every action.
And if the occupant finds themselves without enough power to get through the night when evening comes, it’s because they’ve used too much energy during the day. A backup battery will be provided, but the additional cost will be added to the bill. The goal is to raise awareness about everyday energy consumption.
And the materials…
The houses will be built of wood using two water-resistant species: larch and acacia. An anchoring system, featuring three-meter-long suction anchors, has been patented to support heavy loads in the mud.
A utility room containing 500 kilograms of batteries, inverters, and transformers has also been patented. A special space, built right into the house, provides complete soundproofing to block out noise.
Legal Procedures
The implementation process is extensive. Among other things, it is necessary to file applications with the relevant government agencies to obtain a mooring permit and a temporary maritime territory occupancy permit (AOT), not to mention conducting a biological and environmental impact assessment.
