Education Professionals: Lead a civic and entrepreneurial project with your students
Join the «Mon ESS à l’Ecole» program for the start of the 2018 school year
2018–2019 SCHOOL YEAR
Members of educational teams at middle schools, high schools, and rural family homes, join your students in the « »My ESS at School". The initiative aims to raise young people's awareness of citizenship by making them full-fledged participants in a an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and socially beneficial project. It offers students and their teachers the opportunity to conduct a social welfare project, to establish associations, cooperatives, or mutual aid societies in schools.
«My Social and Solidarity Economy at School» involves middle school, high school, and college students creating a social and solidarity economy (SSE) enterprise in the classroom. The initiative aims to make young people full-fledged participants in an entrepreneurial, collective, and socially beneficial project. Students learn about the values and practices of the social and solidarity economy, as well as how to organize and manage a social and solidarity economy enterprise (such as an association, cooperative, or mutual insurance company). While the creation of the organization may be fictional, the production of a good or service that serves a social purpose is very real.
AN ACTIVE, FLEXIBLE, AND FREE EDUCATIONAL APPROACH
«My ESS at School» is based on a «active learning,», Developed by and for teachers. It can be adapted to all curricula and grade levels. The teacher leads the project and receives free support from a volunteer professional mentor. A «My ESS at School» project can span 1, 2, 3 terms, or more and can begin at any time of the year.
WHY CARRY OUT A «MY ESS AT SCHOOL» PROJECT?
- Teach civic values and practices through hands-on experience and by taking on responsibilities,
- Showcase your region and its dedicated stakeholders,
- Take advantage of free support for project methodology and tools,
- Discover a network of volunteer professionals in the social and solidarity economy,
- Promote your projects at the local and national levels, particularly as part of the « Social and Solidarity Economy Week at School ».
