That is the title of an opinion piece by Plinio Sist, researcher, ecologist, specialist in tropical rainforests, and director of the Forests and Societies research unit at CIRAD published in the newspaper *Libération* on February 10, regarding the alarming decline of tropical forests around the world.

Overexploitation of its resources, reckless land development and intensive farming, major wildfires, and widespread degradation caused by climate change and human activity—the tropical rainforest is in grave danger, yet it is essential to the survival of humanity. Without it, the world would become unbreathable!
