But the island is breaking new ground. Social housing providers are testing graywater recycling, rainwater harvesting, and treatment systems that are unprecedented in the Caribbean. And a new regulatory framework, which took effect in September 2024, followed by today’s (March 31) adoption by the Senate, under an expedited procedure, of the bill authorizing the Martinique Assembly to set its own rules applicable within its territory regarding energy, water, and sanitation.
