As part of the implementation of action programs funded by the Collectivity, Executive Councilor Daniel Marie-Sainte, who is in charge of vocational training and apprenticeships, organizes an annual meeting with trainee representatives.
This meeting is a special opportunity for the Collectivité and the trainees' representatives to take stock of how the training programs are progressing.
As a true liaison between the trainees and the teaching staff, the trainee representative plays a vital role. They have rights and obligations, but above all, they must ensure they fulfill their obligations as vocational training trainees (regular attendance, a commitment to quality work, adherence to rules, discipline, respect for fellow trainees and members of the teaching staff, etc.).
The Executive Counselor therefore welcomed a first group of 27 interns on Friday, April 27, 2018, in Room A402 to:
– Outline the local government’s strategy for vocational training,
– Take stock of the first few months of training,
– Ensure that career goals align with educational programs,
– Review the recruitment processes,
– Identify potential next-step projects (training, starting a business, etc.),
– Discuss life in training organizations.
Trainee representatives serve as the primary «monitors of service delivery» alongside CTM departments. Trainee satisfaction is a factor that is taken into account and analyzed as part of the evaluation of the training program offered.
This first group of trainees consisted mainly of representatives from the agricultural sector. The trainees expressed a high level of satisfaction both with the relevance of the training activities and with areas for improvement in the programs, such as the mix of participants (adults and young people).
The trainees also praised the local government’s positive initiative to raise the standard of training under the Vocational Training Program.
In fact, this training program offers job seekers the opportunity to pursue training in courses ranging from Level 5 to Level 1 (CAP to Master’s degree).
The next two meetings are scheduled, notably with the IMFPA trainee delegates.
In total, nearly 142 delegate trainees from vocational training programs will be welcomed during the first half of 2018.
