Enhancing marine facilities to reduce the discharge of black water into the sea. This is the goal of the Nauti’Cuves initiative, which aims to equip all recreational boats in Martinique with wastewater collection systems. What is the purpose of this program?
The Nauti’Cuves program was created out of a desire to protect the quality of coastal waters. «To support recreational boaters in preserving the marine environment, the Water Authority, in partnership with the Maritime Cluster and the Marine Park, has launched Nauti’Cuves, a funding program designed to encourage the installation of black water tanks on boats built before 2008 ,» explains the Water Authority in a social media post.
Nauti’Cuves has a simple goal: to reduce wastewater discharges into the sea and improve the quality of coastal waters.
Who is this program intended for?
The Nauti’cuve financing program is designed for recreational boaters who are residents of Martinique or who owned a boat prior to 2008 and do not yet have a black water tank.
Specifically, «with Nauti’Cuves, the Martinique Water Authority covers up to 80 % of the project’s total cost, including tax (up to a maximum eligible amount of 5,000 € including tax per boat), in the form of pre-financing paid directly to the contractor performing the work. The boat owner is thus responsible for only 20 % of the project cost, provided they meet the eligibility requirements.»
