Sargassum algae and the H₂S gas it releases can affect electrical equipment and various types of finishes. We wanted to find out if there were any solutions, so we spoke with one of the industry’s key players, Cabex. This Martinique-based company, which specializes in manufacturing PVC ceiling panels, offers products designed for ceilings in homes, offices, public spaces, and commercial buildings. We spoke with Joël Choux, the sales director.
Are the products developed by your company affected by the Sargassum algae bloom?
No, our products are not affected by this issue. We guarantee complete protection; we manufacture our paneling using top-grade, pure material. The material used in our PVC paneling is a top-quality vinyl compound; no Cabex ceiling suffers permanent damage. Our material does not yellow, and its thickness ensures durability whether installed on exposed joists or as a drop ceiling.
What are the different products you offer?
We have developed several models. The first is the traditional paneling with three grooves that somewhat mimic the look of wood. Next is the paneling with a single groove, which offers a slightly more modern look—the KAY 26—and finally, the completely smooth paneling, which is easy to maintain and is called the PAT 26. The PAT 26 provides a truly smooth finish, whether installed on exposed joists or as a drop ceiling. Our product range is extensive, offering two plank widths (13 cm and 26 cm), various surface finishes—both smooth and grooved—as well as a variety of applications.
We have local, modern, and flexible manufacturing processes, which allow us to produce both standard and custom paneling, all of which is immediately available for quick installation.
Do you also sell accessories?
Cabex also offers a range of accessories, such as starter U-channels, clip-on U-channels, adjustable corners, inside and outside corners, as well as all the finishing accessories needed to install the paneling properly.
We serve both individuals and businesses. We provide documentation and have created installation guides to help you install our PVC paneling properly.
What are the benefits of your paneling?
Our paneling is economical and durable, with a guaranteed long service life that requires no maintenance. We ensure consistent quality because we use premium-grade PVC material. Our PVC paneling ceilings are designed to withstand local temperatures and ambient humidity levels throughout the seasons, both indoors and outdoors. Additionally, our paneling does not yellow because it is treated with UV protection. It also contributes to effective thermal insulation.
Finally, Cabex paneling is fully recyclable and, most importantly, resistant to sargassum gas.
