Developing business parks is one thing, but we must be mindful of air quality. Madininair has deployed an air quality monitoring system in the Trianon area of Le François. The goal? To gain a better understanding of air quality in order to adapt policies that promote environmental health.
Why choose the Trianon neighborhood in Le François?
Madininair has deployed a mobile monitoring unit to analyze air quality since May 18, and it will remain in place until July 6. The monitoring equipment is mounted on a mobile trailer and set up in the Trianon area of Le François. «This campaign, conducted as part of the Espace Sud Martinique AIR program, aims to provide a better understanding of the air people breathe on a daily basis in this rapidly developing area,» Madininair stated in a press release.
The deployment area was not chosen at random; it is a region with strong economic growth and a large number of businesses. For the Espace Sud Martinique region, it is important to analyze the impact of this development on air quality and, consequently, on environmental health.
How does the analysis work?

The tools deployed by Madininair focus on analyzing certain potential pollutants. The goal is not to identify all pollutants, but rather to prioritize «concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) and fine particulate matter (PM10),» according to Madininair. «This campaign will provide objective data on air quality in the Trianon area and help us better understand the impact of various activities in the region. The results will also contribute to expanding our knowledge of air quality throughout the Espace Sud region.»
Once the data has been collected, it will help inform decision-makers on the policy direction to take for the region’s economic development, while ensuring air quality is maintained.
Every year, deteriorating air quality leads to chronic diseases and respiratory illnesses and can cause other types of complications. It is therefore essential that public authorities address this issue, which is of major importance to residents’ health.
