As part of the 9thth For the latest edition of European Waste Reduction Week (EWWR), the Ypiranga Martinique Association and CACEM (Circular Economy and Waste Service) co-organized KAZ ZERO GASPI for the second consecutive year. Under the theme «Garden Fair,» this second edition took place from November 18 to 21 at the Trénelle-Citron Community Garden.
The atmosphere on site is festive. There’s something for everyone, young and old alike: an educational play area and activities for the kids, a movie theater, and gardening workshops for the adults. Téo, Martin, Clémence, and several others are hard at work to make this day a success. There’s plenty to do, and many people have come to lend a hand. «The volunteers would arrive and see for themselves what needed to be done without us having to tell them what to do,», Clémence says with a satisfied look on her face.
Four main topics were discussed:
-
Improving production methods, such as organic farming; ;
-
Extend the lifespan of products through repair and donation; ;
-
Consuming more responsibly, among other things, by choosing products with minimal packaging; ;
-
Reduce Waste by Composting and Recycling
The goals are to raise public awareness about waste reduction and alternative consumption patterns, as well as to strengthen social ties within the Trénelle-Citron neighborhood.

More than twenty local organizations participated in the event, which made it possible to offer a wide variety of programs and workshops open to everyone. Monday and Tuesday mornings were reserved for school groups. This event gave many people the opportunity to come together, exchange ideas, and learn how to better manage waste—both individually and as a community.
