The ONF in Martinique is hiring a VSC Project Manager for “Public Outreach in Forest Settings and Environmental Education”
12-month contract, renewable once. Position does not include housing. Statutory compensation in effect.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Ability to take initiative (liaising with ONF partners), independence; ;
Ability to write reports; ;
Oral fluency and teaching skills
Scientific curiosity; knowledge of botany is a plus; ;
Knowledge of the context and natural environments of the Caribbean is a plus; ;
Ability to work in the field.
Job Description:
As part of the Biodiversity and Sustainable Development Department team, the Project Officer will:
Helps conduct studies related to visitor services in forest settings.
His primary responsibility will be to monitor and evaluate the «Forêt d’exception» project contract in the Pitons du Carbet and Montagne Pelée forest areas.
Provides science outreach and environmental education.
Designing and conducting scientific outreach and environmental education activities for
Various audiences (school groups, the general public, job-training programs, etc.). Coordinating the activities team.
He or she will also be responsible for monitoring wildlife (Dougall's terns, sea turtles).
Education and Skills:
A higher education degree in forestry, ecosystem management, landscape architecture, or
land-use planning.
Skills in one or more of the following areas: forestry, project management, space design,
environment, tropical environments,
Knowledge of forest management and botany is a plus,
CAD Skills
Skills in Computer Science, GIS, Drafting, and Graphic Design
A Class B driver's license is required.
