Their future depends on our collective ability to protect their natural habitat—and especially their nesting areas. The Roots of the Sea organization is hosting a new training session for those who would like to join the ranks of volunteers dedicated to biodiversity. This is your last chance to participate!
How do I become a volunteer?
Sea turtle nesting season has begun in Martinique. The Roots of the Sea organization is looking for new volunteers to join the team. The goal? To continue observing, counting, and protecting the island’s sea turtles. A final training session will be held on June 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Maison pour tous de Corps de Garde in Sainte-Luce.
Several institutional actors and organizations in Martinique are participating in this initiative to support local biodiversity: the prefecture, Asso-Mer, the Martinique Sea Turtle Network, the Grandeur Nature Initiative, Green Grace Turtle, and the city of Sainte-Luce.

The program for the day covers several topics, all with a single goal: to gain a better understanding of sea turtles, their environment, and their habits—including their nesting behavior. Specifically, volunteers will have the opportunity to discover and learn how to identify different species of sea turtles, and they will learn a method for tracking their tracks. Finally, the day will be punctuated by friendly interactions with the Roots of the Sea team.
