The Health Village is a highlight of the Fort-de-France leg of the Tour des Yoles Rondes, organized by the City of Fort-de-France, the Regional Health Agency, and the Martinique Round Yole Federation. It took place during the last two stages on Saturday, August 4, and Sunday, August 5, at La Savane.
“This has been an extremely important part of the tour for several years now, allowing 2,000 to 3,000 people to learn more thanks to all the organizations in attendance; it attracts a growing number of visitors every year. ”For this year’s event, people who are deaf or hard of hearing took center stage to explain sign language and various techniques in a fun and engaging way,” explains Alain Dédé, president of the Fédération des Yoles Rondes de Martinique (FYRM).”.
Various healthcare professionals were therefore on hand to listen to the public over the course of these two days, discussing and providing information on issues related to sexuality, contraception, adapted physical activity, and vaccinations. Emphasis was also placed on identifying diabetes-related risks, with the AFD Martinique in attendance, as well as on the importance of a balanced diet and addiction treatment. A space was also dedicated to products from the social economy and organ donation. Special attention was given to air quality prevention, with Madininair in attendance.
This event provided an opportunity to promote health, thanks to the efforts of community organizations that work in these neighborhoods on a daily basis.
