It’s time to roll up our sleeves! The ONF is organizing a community work project on June 20. The goal? To restore a trail on Mount Pelée. Participants will be asked to help transport the equipment needed for this trail restoration. Good physical condition is required!
Community Construction Project
The National Forestry Office (ONF) is organizing a community work project on Saturday, June 20, 2026, on the Aileron Trail at Montagne Pelée, from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is Operation Koudmen, which aims to restore a hiking trail. The first step will be to transport the necessary equipment for the restoration work.
For those interested, the meeting point is the Millenium parking lot in Morne-Rouge. A shuttle will be provided to take participants to the site. Lunch will be provided for all participants.
Organized by the ONF of Martinique, the project is supported by the Martinique Fire Department, Chanflor spring water, the Mont Pelée company, the town of Morne-Rouge, Banamart, and the Martinique Volcanoes Organization.
What are the challenges of this participatory project?
Organizing a community work project makes it possible to engage a number of people who want to get involved in environmental protection and conservation. «Come enjoy a friendly, meaningful, and community-oriented experience in the heart of our Martinican forest!» the organizers say in a social media post. A minimum number of volunteers is needed to carry out this important mission.

The organizers recommend that participants be in good physical condition, as the goal is to «carry redwood planks along the trail.».
